Women in Science, Engineering and Technology

What is WiSET?

Group of students.

WiSET (Women in Science, Engineering and Technology) is a network for all female students, technical, research and academic staff in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Why?

WiSET aims to encourage more women to enter and develop careers in science, engineering and technology (SET) fields.

A large number of SET students enter non-SET careers and women are under-represented in SET.

WiSET was formed in 2005, when it was funded by the UK government, to encourage more female graduates to develop careers in SET. Whilst WiSET is now funded by the Faculty, there are still strong links with the UK Resource Centre for Women in SET as well as industry.

How?

Student coordinators work with staff to arrange a programme of events each year including …

Social networking events

Industrial site visits

Skills workshops

Why not come along to one of the Events?
