Professional biography

Hi, I’m Anna Galloway. I’m currently in my 4th year of Chemical Engineering with Environmental Technology. I have always had a keen interest in science ever since making my first rocket with a bottle of lemonade and some mints. From my early experiments I continued on to study A-Levels in biology, chemistry, physics and maths.

I chose chemical engineering after a week long taster course at UMIST.  This ‘Headstart’ course enabled me to gain a taste of several different engineering disciplines.

Over the course of my degree I have undertaken three different placements for Procter and Gamble. My roles as a process engineer have been diverse, manufacturing fine fragrances, washing powder and diapers, all around the UK. From these placements I have not just increased my technical knowledge but also a variety of interpersonal skills and along the way have met so many interesting and inspiring engineers. I would encourage everyone to try a placement.  If you would like a preview of one such placement check out my internship diary.

After completing my degree I shall be returning to Newcastle to work as a process engineer working towards becoming a chartered engineer. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and playing badminton, squash and netball.
